I manage Pinsharp Communications Ltd, a translation & editing consultancy.
I specialise in translating sales and marketing texts from French to English, and writing and proofreading texts for an international audience. My clients range from global finance, telecoms and events companies to startups and SMBs. I work flexibly on a contract and freelance basis, on-site and remotely.
I have a strong literary and editorial background combined with ten years’ experience writing and editing copy in a corporate environment, giving me the skills to make your content sing in English.

EDUCATION
I studied French and Spanish at the Queen’s College, Oxford, where I gained an upper second degree and spent a year at what was then Alcatel in Paris. While at university I also studied Advanced French Translation, Galician (a Spanish dialect) and participated in the weekly Galician translation workshop, which published a collection of poetry and short story translations every year.
THE START OF MY CAREER
I began working as a translator at a creative agency based in Paris back in 2007. Our main client was L’Oreal and its subsidiary brands, mainly the Active Cosmetics brands La Roche Posay, Biotherm, Vichy, and also L’Oreal Paris, Fructis, Kerastase and Lancôme. I translated product and marketing copy, press releases and web content from French into English. I also led workshops on English language and presentation skills, including PPT proofreading, brainstorming and concept development in English for non-native speakers.
DEVELOPING A DIGITAL FOCUS
After this I spent time in Australia, the US, Europe and the UK, working as a copywriter for TV and radio, as an e-commerce copywriter, content manager, content lead, editor-in-chief… Throughout that time I always worked on multiple country sites for different audiences, giving me a broad grounding in web systems, languages, online operations and usability.
FROM CONTENT OPS TO STRATEGY
When I wasn’t writing and translating, I was advising on strategies for multilingual content management, finding ways to save money through content reuse or managing international projects. I qualified as a SCRUM master in 2014. While my everyday work became more focused on consulting, I still freelanced as a FR-EN translator and copy editor for a number of French companies.
WHERE AM I NOW?
In 2013 I set up my own company, Pinsharp Communications.
I continued to work with my longstanding freelance clients to meet their translation and content needs: technology giant Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise; Comexposium and its many exhibitions, HiPay and Ingenico Group in the financial sector. Currently, I combine freelance projects for these corporate clients with my passion for words and creativity.
My motivation? Doing work that makes a difference. With the right strategy and content in the right language, you move beyond communicating to your customers, and develop long-lasting relationships that matter.
